THESSALY, Pharsalos. Late 5th-mid 4th century BC. AR Hemidrachm (16mm, 2.68 g, 11h). Helmeted head of Athena left / Head and neck of horse right within concave circle. Lavva 160 corr. (V74/R92 [rev. die cited as R93 in text]); BCD Thessaly II 658 corr. (same dies). Near VF, toned, rough granular surface, die shift on reverse.
From the BCD Collection.
In the text of her die study, Lavva notes that the reverse die used on combination 160 and 161 is R93, while on the plate she shows R92 for combination 160. A close inspection of the plate coins reveals that 160 and 161 use similar, yet different reverse dies. Thus, Lavva 160 should correctly cite V74/R92.
