Charles II . 1665. AR 24mm Pattern Farthing (6.48 gm). Long hair type. Dies by John Rottier. CAROLVS •A• CAROLO., laureate and cuirassed bust left / QVATVOR•MA-RIA•VINDICO, Britannia seated left on globe, holding laurel and sceptre, garnished arms at side; BRITANNIA in exergue. Plain edge. Peck 433; North -; Lobel C2PTM-090. Good VF, attractively toned, small obverse die breaks and light reverse adjustment marks. Rare. ($400)

This coin appears to actually be of the plain-edge variety, having somewhat above a median weight - thus precluding efacement of the reeds. The light filing and striations appear to be a product of the mint, and perhaps an overstrike over a previous example.
