CHINA, Shang-Zhou dynasty. Circa 1600-800 BC. Æ Cowroid Imitation (37x26mm, 17.10 g). Cast bronze cowry with cupped reverse and hand-carved central opening. Cf. BN Chinoises I 42-50; Yü-Ch'üan –; Zeno –; cf. Hartill 1.3 (all smaller and lighter). As made, green patina, earthen encrustations on reverse. An exceptionally large and heavy specimen.
