GERMANY, Augsburg (freie Reichsstadt). nomine Ferdinand III. AR Schraubtaler (41mm, 11.39 g, 12h). Dated 1642. Laureate, draped, and armored bust right, wearing Order of the Golden Fleece / Cityscape of Augsburg; cherub above; below, pine cone set on ornate base. Cf. Forster 285 (for coin); cf. Davenport 5039 (same). Obverse threaded for use as lid. Reverse had paper decorated with painted female portrait attached (present, but detached). Also included are twelve hand painted mica overlays illustrating various contemporary costumes. EF, coin toned, one mica disk partially missing.
