PHOENICIA, Tyre. Trajan. AD 98-117. AR Tetradrachm (25mm, 14.38 g, 6h). Struck AD 100. Laureate head of Trajan right above eagle standing right; stalk of grain (or palm frond?) to left, club to right / Laureate bust of Melqart-Herakles right, lion skin tied around neck. Prieur 1482; McAlee 452. Good Fine, toned. Scarce.
From the Demetrios Armounta Collection.
Prieur makes the case that the object on the obverse in left field is clearly a stalk of grain, not a palm frond.
