Imperial sacellum. Late 8th-9th century. PB Seal (30mm, 23.76 g, 12h). Large B (for βασιλικης) within wreath / Large C containing smaller A (for σακέλλης); all within wreath. BLS I 483a var. (large B part of monogram). Good VF, a few scrapes.
Although literally meaning “shrine”, the imperial sacellum was the emperor’s personal treasury, overseen by its own treasurer, or sacellarius.
