SICILY, Panormos (as Ziz). Circa 317-280 BC. Æ (11mm, 1.63 g, 7h). Imitative issue(?). Horse galloping right / Forepart of man-headed bull right. Cf. Jenkins, Punic, p. 75, 19; cf. CNS 10; cf. HGC 2, 1061. Good VF, green patina. Apparently unpublished.

From the Continental Collection.

While the present coin has the same types and metrology as the issue referenced above, there are significant differences. The obverse should feature a grain ear above the horse, the ethnic (Punic ṢYṢ) should be above the man-headed bull, and there should be no exergue line on the reverse. Also, the overall style, particularly that of the reverse, is significantly different from the published specimens of CNS 10.
