Theophilus. 829-842. Æ Half Follis (24mm, 5.25 g, 6h). Constantinople mint. Struck 831-842. Half-length facing figure of Theophilus, wearing loros and tufa decorated with pellets, holding labarum and globus cruciger; small cross to right / Legend in four lines, within linear circle. DOC 16c; SB 1668. VF, reddish-brown patina with touches of green, some roughness and cleaning scratches. Scarce variety with cross; only one example listed in DOC.
