COLONIAL AFRICA, Belgian. Congo Belge (Belgian Congo). Lot of six (6) CU-NI and Brass Denominations. Lot includes the following denominations:
(131.1) Albert I. King of Belgium, 1909-1934. CU-NI 50 Centimes (24mm, 6.23 g, 9h). Bruxelles (Brussels) mint. Dated 1924. Flemish rev. legend. KM 23. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 66. A fabulous rainbow toned lustrous gem. Only two of these have ever been graded and this is by far the choicest. It looks like a frosted proof.
(131.2) Albert I. King of Belgium, 1909-1934. CU-NI 50 Centimes (24mm, 6.51 g, 6h). Bruxelles (Brussels) mint. Dated 1927. French rev. legend. KM 22. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 65. Gem BU with a hint of obverse patina.
(131.3) Albert I. King of Belgium, 1909-1934. CU-NI Franc (29mm, 10.22 g, 6h). Bruxelles (Brussels) mint. Dated 1924. Flemish rev. legend. KM 21. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 65. Gem brilliant uncirculated with one tiny faint patch of toning on obverse. A superb type coin and very rare in this grade. Highest specimen graded.
(131.4) Albert I. King of Belgium, 1909-1934. CU-NI Franc (29mm, 10.00 g, 6h). Bruxelles (Brussels) mint. Dated 1930. French rev. legend. KM 20. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 65. Gem brilliant uncirculated. Just a hint of colorful obverse patina.
(131.5) temp. Léopold III. King of Belgium, 1934-1951. Brass Franc (19mm, 2.49 g, 12h). Banque du Congo Belge issue. Dated 1949. KM 26. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 65. Choice uncirculated with some patina. A gem coin with somewhat subdued color. This is the last coin issued in the Belgian Congo.
(131.6) temp. Léopold III. King of Belgium, 1934-1951. Brass 2 Francs (29mm, 5.96 g, 12h). Banque du Congo Belge issue. Dated 1943. KM 25. In NGC encapsulation graded MS64. Superb uncirculated specimen, just a hint of toning but full luster. A one year only type with its “Prancing Elephant”.
