FRANCE, Royal (Restored). Louis XVIII. 1814-1824. AR 5 Francs (37mm, 25.06 g, 6h). Premier Restauration (First restoration) issue. Paris mint; différents: signature/rooster. Pierre-Joseph Tiolier, engraver general. Ch.-Pierre de l’Espine, director. Dated 1814 A. VG 591; KM 702.1. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 65 WINGS APPROVED. Gem prooflike fully lustrous brilliant uncirculated with just a hint of patina on the borders. Stupendous comes to mind, though we are running out of superlatives in cataloguing and describing this amazing collection. Highest ever graded for this first year of Louis XVIII at the Paris mint.
