Laureate head right; c/m’s: imperial bust right within oval incuse and LXF (for Legio X Fretensis) within rectangular incuse / [Tyche standing left, right foot on uncertain object, folding globe and spear; LΘP (date) to upper left]; c/m’s: galley right within rectangular incuse and boar right, with LXF above and dolphin below, within rectangular incuse. RPC II 2226; Barag Group III (for c/m pattern); for c/m’s: Howgego 119, 291, 410, and 733i. Host coin Fair, countermarks VF. brown patina.


The Legio X Fretensis played a significant role during the First Jewish War and remained stationed in the region until the 4th century.
