ANGLO-SAXON, Anglo-Viking (Danish East Anglia). Imitations of Alfred the Great. Circa 885-915. AR Halfpenny (16mm, 0.64 g, 3h). Londonia monogram type. Mint in East Anglia (Ipswich?). EIV RED+ flanking diademed and draped bust right / Retrograde LONDONIA monogram; cross above and below. SCBI –; cf. BMC 112; North 466 var. (bust left); SCBC 969. EMC 2001.0650 (this coin). Good VF, toned, some edge loss. Attractive portrait. Very rare.
