333, Lot: 382. Estimate $100.
Sold for $190. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

Severus II. As Caesar, AD 305-306. Æ Follis (27mm, 9.99 g, 12h). Aquileia mint, 3rd officina. Laureate head right / Roma standing left, holding Victory, spear, and shield; bound captive seated at feet to left. RIC 72a (R) corr. VF, brown patina, obverse weakly struck. Scarce.

RIC describes the figure on the reverse as the “prince”, but the exposed right breast leaves no doubt that it is in fact Roma.
