Legio V Scythica) and KAI in rectangular incuses / C/m: bust right within circular incuse. Hendin 1607 (this coin illustrated on pl. 54); Howgego 543 (for KAI countermark). Fair, earthen green patina.

The Legio V Scythica, also known as Legio V Macedonia, fought together with the tenth and fifteenth legions under Vespasian during the First Jewish War. The countermark must have been applied between the summer of 68 and late 70 or early 71, when the legion departed to Alexandria with Titus.
