The variety of obverse and reverse legends for Niger seems almost endless. In his review of the denarii of Pescennius Niger ("The Denarii of Pescennius Niger," in The Presidents Address, NumChron 1992, pg. iv-xxii), Buttrey was able to locate 545 specimens, composing 91 different reverse types struck from 303 reverse dies!
