INDIA, Jaipur. Man Singh II. 1936. Æ Nazarana Paisa (6.68 gm). Struck in the names of Man Singh and Edward VIII, King of England; dated regnal year 15/1936. Islamic inscriptions on both sides. KM 167. EF, toned, some traces of red. Rare. ($300)

Edward VIII was, of course, the English king who gave up his throne for the woman he loved, the American divorcée Wallis Simpson. No coins of Edward VIII were issued for circulation in the U. K., although a few patterns and proof sets were struck. Today these are extremely rare and valuable. Some of Britain's colonies did issue coins in the name of Edward VIII. These are also considered highly collectable and popular.
