ARABIA, Northern. Uncertain. 4th century BC. AR Drachm (13mm, 3.27 g, 12h). Head of Athena right, wearing cap with a ‘crest’ of annulets and large ornament on neck, possibly a pendant of her earring / Highly schematic representation of an owl facing, its body composed of dots and strokes; Aramaic shin and mem to right. Huth-Qedar, “A coin from North Arabia with an Aramaic inscription and related coins of the Incense Road,” NC (1999). p. 295, pl. 26, 1 = Huth 37 var. (letters to left of owl) . Fine, rough find patina. Extremely rare issue.
