CILICIA, Tarsos. Pharnabazos. Persian military commander, 380-374/3 BC. AR Stater (22mm, 10.74 g, 2h). Struck circa 380-379 BC. Baaltars seated left, his torso facing, holding lotus-tipped scepter in extended right hand, left hand holding chlamys at his waist; B’LTRZ (in Aramaic) to right / Bearded head left, wearing crested Attic helmet, drapery around neck; PRNBZW (in Aramaic) to left. Casabonne Series 4; Moysey Issue 2, dies 33/a (this coin referenced); SNG France –; SNG Levante –; Sunrise –. EF, minor light scratch in field on reverse. Very rare variety without legend behind crest, one of only four examples known to Moysey and the only one on CoinArchives.
