SICILY, Messana. Circa 412-408 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.38 gm). Signed obverse die! The nymph Messana driving walking biga left; dolphin in exergue, Nike flying above with wreath and caduceus; signature SIMIN on exergual line (barely visible) / MESSANIWN, hare springing left; eagle perched on small rock attacking serpent below. Caltabiano 627 (D224/R251); SNG ANS 381 (same dies); Jameson 653 (same obverse die). Toned, nice VF, fine style. Very rare. ($3000)
