CALABRIA, Tarentum. Circa 333-331/0 BC. AR Nomos (20mm, 7.81 g, 3h). Nude warrior, shield on left arm, holding two spears in left hand, preparing to cast a third held aloft in his right hand, on horse rearing right; |- to left, Λ to right; below, KAΛ above A / Phalanthos, nude, holding crested helmet with both hands, astride dolphin right; TAPAΣ to left, stars flanking, API below. Fischer-Bossert Group 60, 770h (V303/R598) = Locker Lampson 13 = Q. Quagliati, “Quattro tesoretti di monete greche rinvenuti a Carosino, Monacizzo, Motola, Francavilla Fontana” in AttiMemIIN VI (1930), p. 27, 28 (this coin); Vlasto 543; HN Italy 896; SNG ANS 967; Gulbenkian 32; Jameson 138; McClean 592 (all from the same dies).
