MACEDON, Akanthos. Circa 500-480 BC. AR Tetradrachm (27mm, 16.89 g). Attic standard. Lion right, attacking bull crouching left; floral ornament in exergue / Quadripartite incuse square. Desneux 35–40 var. (unlisted dies); cf. AMNG III/2, 11; SNG ANS 8; SNG Ashmolean 2198; Walcher de Molthein 951 (this coin). Good VF, old cabinet toning.
