KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’. 336-323 BC. AV Quarter Stater (10mm, 2.15 g, 12h). Sardes mint. Struck under Menander, circa 330/25-324/3 BC. Head of Athena right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet decorated with serpent / AΛEΞANΔPOY, Nike standing left, holding wreath in extended right hand and cradling stylis in left arm; in left field, head of griffin left. Price 2535; ADM I Series IV 24; Hunterian 36. VF, a few marks. Very rare.
