KINGS of MACEDON. Philip III Arrhidaios. 323-317 BC. AV Stater (19mm, 8.59 g, 3h). Kolophon mint. Struck under Menander or Kleitos, circa 322-319 BC. Head of Athena right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet decorated with coiled serpent / ΦIΛIΠΠOY, Nike standing left, holding wreath in extended right hand and cradling stylis in left arm; tripod in left field. Price P41; SNG Saroglos –; SNG Copenhagen 1072 (same dies); Triton V, lot 1301; Hess-Divo 320, lot 118. EF, lustrous, a little die wear on reverse. Well centered and struck. Very rare, only two in CoinArchives.
