Divus Pertinax. Died AD 193. AV Aureus (20mm, 7.15 g, 6h). Consecration issue. Rome mint. Struck under Septimius Severus, AD 193-194. DIVVS PERT PIVS PATER, bare head right / CONS ECRATIO, four-tiered funeral pyre: lowest tier garlanded, middle two tiers arched with statues; uppermost tier draped, flanked by torches, and surmounted by triumphal quadriga. RIC IV 24B = BMCRE 37 note = Cohen 11; Woodward, Pertinax –; Calicó 2382; Biaggi –. VF, test mark on obverse and on reverse, traces of possible prior mounting. One of two known.
