Majorian. AD 457-461. AV Solidus (22mm, 4.38 g, 6h). Ravenna mint. D N IVLIVS MAIORI ANVS P F AVG, pearl-diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed bust right, holding spear forward in right hand and shield decorated with Christogram in left / VICTORIΛ ΛΛVGG, Majorian, in military attire, standing facing, right foot on human-headed serpent, holding long cross in right hand and Victory on globe in left; R-V//COMOB. RIC X 2624 = Dr. Karl Hahn Collection (Cahn 61, 3 December 1928), lot 1150 (same rev. die); Ranieri –; Lacam –; Depeyrot –; DOCLR –; Biaggi – . VF, toned, a few marks on the cheek. One of two known with the VICTORIΛ ΛΛVGG and the first to be offered in auction in over 86 years.
