ITALY, Messerano (principi). Francesco Filiberto Ferrero Fieschi. 1584-1629. AR Tallero (41mm, 26.25 g, 11h). Imitating a Leeuwendaalder of the Republiek der Zeven Verenigde Nederlanden (Dutch Republic). Undated, but struck 1586. MO NO ARG (trace of R) DIN N M C, armored half-length figure of soldier standing left, head right; coat-of-arms below; stellate stops / CONFIDENS DS/N D NON MOVETVR, lion rampant left; saltire stops; at end of legend, flower flanked by saltires. CNI II 3 var. (obv. legend); MIR 770 var. (same); cf. Gamberini 617 (for type); Davenport 8302 var. (obv. legend). Good VF, toned. Apparently an unpublished variety of a very rare issue.
