ATTICA, Athens. Circa 163/162 BC. AR New Style Tetradrachm (16.70 gm). Helmeted head of Athena right, no border of dots / A-QE, owl standing right on amphora; monogram left, kerchnos and monogram right; all within wreath. Thompson 4/7 (obverse of 4, reverse of 7); Svoronos pl. 33, 7/10. Toned, good VF. Very rare early issue. (See color enlargement on plate 7.) ($1500)
