SICILY, Syracuse. Philistis, wife of Hieron II. 275-215 BC. AR 16 Litrai – Tetradrachm (26mm, 13.41 g, 2h). Struck circa 218/7-215 BC. Diademed and veiled head left; ear of grain to right / Nike, holding reins in both hands, driving fast quadriga right; KI above, ear of grain below. CCO 63.2 (D16/R40 – this coin, illustrated); BAR Issue 65; HGC 2, 1555. Good VF, toned, a few die flaws and die rust.
