SYRIA, Decapolis. Gadara. Marcus Aurelius, as Caesar. 139-161 AD. Æ 22mm (8.93 gm). Dated year 223 (159/160 AD). OVHP KAICAP CEB YIOC, bare-headed bust right / GADAPEWN, Tyche of Gadara standing left, holding sceptre and cornucopiae, she is being crowned by a small Nike set atop a Corinthian column; date to right. Cf. Spijkerman 50 (Lucius Verus); cf. Rosenberger 53 (Lucius Verus). Near EF, dark brown patina with earthen highlights. Much superior to the published specimens. ($300)
