Sold for $70. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’. 336-323 BC. AR Obol (10mm, 0.66 g, 6h). Uncertain mint in the Levant. Struck circa 325-323 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; uncertain control marks. VF, toned, porous, obverse off center.

Although the controls are unclear, the style of this issue is consistent with the many fractional issues from the various Levantine mints in the final years of Alexander’s reign.
