GETA, as Caesar. 198-209 AD. AR Denarius (3.43 gm). Struck 199-204 AD. P SEPT GETA CAES PONT, bare-headed and draped bust right, seen from behind / TEMP/OR FELI/CITAS in three lines within wreath. Cf. RIC IV 22; cf. BMCRE 246; RSC 196a var. (obverse legend). Toned, good VF. Apparently unpublished variety. ($200)

From the Marc Melcher Collection.

Although this reverse type is known for Geta, this variety, with these particular legend breaks, is only known from three specimens (cf. RSC 196a), all of which have Geta’s earlier-type obverse legend that contains his praenomen 'L' rather than 'P.'
