JUDAEA, Aelia Capitolina (Jerusalem). Caracalla. AD 198-217. AR Tetradrachm (26mm, 11.94 g, 12h). Struck AD 215-217. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Eagle standing facing on thyrsus without fillets, head and tail left, with wings spread, holding wreath in beak; vine leaf between legs. Meshorer 95 var.; Prieur 1617 var.; Bellinger 349 var.; Sofaer 82-3 var. (all with a filleted thyrsus). Good VF, a hint of porosity. A variety unpublished in the standard references.
