LACONIA, Las. Caracalla. AD 198-217. Æ Assarion (23mm, 5.48 g, 6h). Struck circa AD 202-205. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / ΛA-ΩN, Hygea standing right, feeding serpent held in hands. BCD Peloponnesos 991 var. (same obv. die; ethnic spelled with ω rather than Ω); cf. NCP p. 65 (pl. O, XX) = BMC 2 (Hygieia left, ethnic spelled with ω rather than Ω); Dura –. Good VF, earthen green patina. Extremely rare, and apparently an unpublished variety.
