THRACE, Mesembria. Gordian III, with Tranquillina. AD 238-244. Æ (26mm, 14.38 g, 6h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Gordian and draped bust of Tranquillina, wearing stephane, facing one another / Two Corybantes performing Pyrrhic dance, holding short swords and shields over their heads. Karayatov II 118-25 (O20/R34); Varbanov 4186 (same dies as illustration). Fine, green patina, rough and somewhat crude.
