DYNASTS of LYCIA. Mithrapata or Arttumpara(?). Circa 390-370 BC. AR Obol (10.5mm, 0.59 g, 7h). Forepart of lion right / Bird standing right; monoskeles above, P to right; all in dotted circular border. Unpublished in the standard references. VF, toned, a few marks and area of flat strike on obverse, die breaks on reverse.

The lion forepart motif is very unusual in Lycian coin iconography, and is primarily known on the coins of the rulers Mithrapata and Arttumpara. Although the type is also known on very rare issues of Kherei and Kuprilli, the style here is most similar to the later rulers.
