Antoninus Pius. AD 138-161. Æ “Medallion” (56mm, 137.08 g, 6h). Rome mint sesterius with seated Ops reverse (struck AD 140-144) mounted in a thick bronze torus-shaped collar; collar decorated with four concentric ridges on either side. Cf. RIC III 612 and Banti 248 (for sestertius); Gnecchi –; cf. Toynbee pl. XXIV, 1 (for collar). Fine, brown and green patina, some minor damage to collar. An unusual piece.
