Well struck. Very rare Type IV B daric.

From the collection of Dr. Lawrence A. Adams, purchased from Pars Coins, April 2002.

At the time of Carradice’s seminal article in BAR, there were no gold coins known for Type IV B, even though it is one of the most common in silver. This variety is differentiated from the others by the lack of indentations at the waistline of the figure on the obverse, and his dagger is pointed directly at his waist, rather than at a 45 degree angle to the ground. A handful finally appeared on the market around 2001. These have been commonly misattributed in sale catalogs as Type IV A.
