INDIA, Gupta Empire. First Dynasty. Chandragupta II Vikramaditya. Circa AD 380-413. AV Dinar (21mm, 7.85 g, 12h). Horseman type (Class I, Variety c). Chandragupta riding caparisoned horse right / Lakshmi seated left on wicker stool, holding pāśa (noose) and cornucopia. BKB 150-2; BMC Guptas 130-1; Altekar pl. X, 14-15; Bayana 1071 var. (tamgha on rev.; same obv. die). Good VF, areas of weak strike. Overstruck on a Chandragupta II Horseman type (Class I, Variety c) dinar with tamgha to upper left on reverse (cf. Bayana 1027).
