VISIGOTHS, Gaul. Pseudo-Imperial coinage. AV Tremissis (15mm, 1.26 g, 6h). In the name of Byzantine emperor Justin I (518-527). Narbonne mint. CVITV-VNICSIC (first C retrograde), diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust right; large cross on chest / VSTI-VNIV, Victory advancing right, holding wreath and palm frond; ONO. Tomasini Group JI1, 156 = Reinhart pl. 9, 12 var. (rev. legend; same obv. die); cf. MEC 1, 186. EF, light earthen deposits. Exceptional.
From the collection of Dr. Lawrence A. Adams.
Reinhart thought this issue to be Merovingian. Tomasini considers his group JI1 to be firmly Visigothic, while some of his sub-groups (JI1a-f) may be Merovingian.
