Dated 1576. · IACOBVS · 6 · DEI · GRA · REX · SCOTOR ·, crowned half-length bust right, wearing ruff, holding sword over shoulder and olive branch; in tablet below, IN · VTRVNQVE/ · PARATVS ·/ · 1576 · / PARCERE SVBIECTIS · & DEBEILARE SVPERBOS, crowned coat-of-arms. Burns 1 var. (rev. legend stops); SCBI 58 (Edinburgh) 1234-6 (same dies); SCBC 5451. VF, toned, has been made round. Very rare – only seven of this date thought to be in private hands.
