the barrier through Vankryk broken – the United Netherlands), Pallas standing right, holding staff surmounted by Liberty cap, and laurel branch and caduceus; and feet to right, lion recumbent facing, holding bundle of arrows and sword; in background. rampart and war scene / AAN GOD DE BEHOEDER (
for God the protector), the United Provinces kneeling in prayer before an altar inscribed GODS/VRUGT in two lines with bundle of arrows below and surmounted by a smoking censer; to right, blowing cherubim above recumbent bull; TOEGEZEGD and date in two lines in exergue. Cf. Coster 789 (for type). Superb EF, traces of underlying luster, hairline die breaks on obverse.
