The nymph Messana, holding reins in both hands, driving slow biga of mules right; above, Nike flying right, crowning mules with wreath held in both hands; leaf in exergue / Hare springing right; retrograde MEΣΣAN-I-ON around. Caltabiano Series IX, 379 (D171/R161); HGC 2, 783; SNG ANS 339 (same dies); Ognina 123 (same dies). Near EF, toned, hairline flan crack, a few scratches under tone, overstruck on an uncertain type. Well centered on an exceptionally broad, medallic flan.
