PERSIA, Achaemenid Empire. temp.
Xerxes II to Artaxerxes II. Circa 420-375 BC. AR Thirty-second(?) Siglos (5mm, 0.17 g). Persian king or hero, wearing
kidaris and
kandys, [quiver over shoulder], in kneeling-running stance right, holding [dagger in right hand], bow in left / Incuse punch. Cf. Carradice Type IV B for type, otherwise unpublished in the standard references. VF, minor porosity, compact flan. Very rare.
The scale of the type on the obverse of Persian fractions typically is commensurate to the size of the intended flan. Thus. the large size of the type on the obverse of this coin suggests that it was struck from a die made for a larger denomination.
