EUREKA, California seated left, draped, helmeted and wearing armor, holding spear; to right, shield embossed with head of Fremont(?), bear, two grain sheaves, and plow handle; mountains behind; to left, setting sun, ship in harbor, and miner with pick axe / California Golden Bear walking left. Cf. John J. Ford Collection (Stack's, 16 October 2007), but this type not in the Ford collection. Near EF, toned. Rare(?).
