Reverse Copying a Brutus Denarius

KINGS of THRACE. Rhescuporis I, with Cotys II. Circa 48-42 BC. Æ (17mm, 4.19 g, 12h). BAΣIΛEYΣ KOTYΣ , diademed and draped bust right / BAΣIΛEΩΣ [PAIΣKO]YΠOPIΔOΣ, trophy. Youroukova 157; RPC I 1703. VF, dark green patina, flatly struck. Rare.

The reverse copies a denarius of Brutus from 43-42 BC (Crawford 505/5). It is noted in RPC (p. 312) that “Rhaescuporis I was a loyal ally to Brutus and he gave him the most active assistance in the war against the Bessi.”
