ITALY. Virgil (70-19 BC). AR Medal (23mm, 6.51 g, 12h). By Valerio Belli, circa 1520s-1530s(?). Draped bust of Virgil right / DIVI AVG CAES IMP (“of the divine Augustus Caesar Emperor”), a goat gnawing at a tree, against which it rests its front legs; grain growing to left of tree, trophy of arms to right; MVNVS (“favor”) in exergue. Attwood 333. VF, toned, scratch below bust. Rare.
