Fabius Comes to the Aid of Minucius (“Vengeance Sacrificed for the Public Good”): at left, Fabius and his officers on horseback prepare to come to the aid of Minucius’ army, seen at right surrounded by Hannibal’s forces; dated year 535 (219 BC) in exergue / Claudius Nero Departs for Metaurus (“Diligence of Claudius Nero”): under a moonlit sky, Claudius Nero leads his troops from their encampment before Hannibal’s army; dated year 545 (209 BC) in exergue.
