KINGS of MACEDON. Philip III Arrhidaios. 323-317 BC. Fourrée Stater (18mm, 4.61 g, 9h). In the name of Alexander III. Imitating Lampsakos mint issue, struck under Leonnatos, Arrhidaios, or Antigonos I Monophthalmos. Head of Athena right, wearing helmet decorated with serpent / Nike standing left, holding wreath in extended right hand and cradling stylis in left arm; buckle in left field, ΛΩ below left wing. For prototype, cf. Price 1374; cf. ADM II Series IX, 198. VF, rough surfaces with plating broken on both sides, marks.

The ΛΩ beneath Nike’s wing appears to have morphed into an A over a serpent on this fourrée.
