Septimius Severus. AD 193-211. AV Aureus (20mm, 7.47 g, 11h). Rome mint. Struck AD 203. SEVERVS PIVS AVG, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / INDVLGENTIA AVGG, IN CARTH in exergue, Dea Caelestis riding lion leaping right, holding thunderbolt in right hand and scepter in left; water gushing from rocks below. RIC IV 267b var. (Dea Caelestis holds drum instead of thunderbolt); Calicó 2463 (same dies as illustration); Biaggi 1072 (same dies); BMCRE 333 var. (same as RIC). Good VF, a few marks, edge marks from prior mount. Extremely rare variety.
