New Kingdom. 18th Dynasty. Queen Tiye (1398-1338 BC). Steatite scarab with partial blue glaze (14x10mm). Face depicts Tiye’s name including three
maat (“truth”) symbols and
nemet nesewt Tiye or “the royal wife Tiye.” She became the great Royal Wife of Amenhotep III, and was the mother of Akhenaten and grandmother of Tutankhamun. A desirable piece. Pierced. Cf. NFA 138-9.
